Finally... I can fit in some new clothes!
Alright, they are still a little big but mommy couldn't help herself and just wanted to put me in a "real" outfit.

First Playdate
Quinn had her first playdate with someone close to her age. We got together with the Preuss family (Kirsten, Jeremy, Austin and Talan) yesterday.

Gotta love a new toy!
Quinn has started playing with her new farm animal play gym. Thanks to Auntie Amy and the Stickney family, she is loving this new toy. She would much prefer to stretch out and play on her back or tummy anyday over being in her bouncer or swing.

Quinn has started falling asleep on her back without a swaddle. We are starting to gradually make the transition. She still sleeps swaddled and held tightly by her Boppy.

Happy 1 Month Baby Girl
March 19th marked Quinn's one month birthday. It's so hard to believe our little girl is a month old already. She has changed so much already. As time goes by quickly, we definitely want to embrace, cherish and remember all of the special moments as she reaches each birthday milestone.
Loving her new teddy blankie! (from the Lemp family) and in her new penguin jammies (from the Preuss family).
The First Month:
Who does she look like? At first we definitely saw more of mom in her and quite a bit of the Dalton characteristics. She still primarily shows more of those, but we are seeing a little more daddy in her, mostly with her eyes. I think so, Todd doesn't see it. :) Otherwise, heart shaped face like auntie Amy and some serious faces like cousin Aidan.
Loves...? Quinn loves being held tightly and falling asleep in your arms or on your chest. She is starting to like her swing a little more, but we take it in small doses. Quinn also loves songs being sung to her and books being read (thank goodness mommy has over 3,000 from her classroom). Quinn also loves bathtime, something unique to newborns so young for sure.
Sleeping? Such a good sleeper, we were bound to end up with some good things after such a rough pregnancy right? Quinn still sleeps quite a bit throughout the day. At night she is a 9-1-5 girl. Meaning we put her down at 9 and she wakes about 1am and then again at 5am, pretty consistently. She goes back down again till about 7 or 8.
Eating? Such a good eater! She has quite the little sucker on her too! Definitely was not a concern with her sucking skills despite being born early. I'd like to think that Quinn will not be a finnicky or picky eater, as she already adjusts and eats so well (with nursing, pumping, and formula all in the routine). Right now she pretty consistently eats 2.5 ounces about every 2 hours.
Sizes? Quinn is still in preemie size clothes. However, many of them are getting quite snug on her or not fitting any more altogether. She is experiencing her first feeling of "a whole closet full of clothes...but nothing to wear". She is a bit caught in the middle as newborn size clothes are still too big. In diapers, she officially made the transition this weekend to newborn diapers. So for the first 4 weeks it's been preemie everything. Hopefully her little wardrobe will start expanding soon.
Weight/Height?: Last appt. 5 lbs 15 oz., Next appt. is this week, I would guess 6 lbs 10 oz/20 inches maybe.
Unique Qualities that make her Quinn: Oh my goodness... Grunting! She is a little grunter, it makes us chuckle all the time. She is very alert and strong during her awake time. She is also an extremely patient, calm and reliable little girl. We can tell that about her already.
Most Valuable Baby Items: Video Baby Monitor, Boppy Pillows, glider chair, nursing cover, all blankets and burp cloths
Mom's favorites: So preciously cuddled asleep on my chest for naps, bedtime routine as a family, her sweetest little mouth/lips, her first smile, her first real look at you, every little sound and coo and all the pink - At the hospital, my favorite moments were often those in the middle of the night when they would bring her in for feedings (so quiet, peaceful and just the two of us... well daddy was there too sleeping on the couch).
All the pink bows and ruffles, just so cute!
Dad's favorites: Play time, reading books to her, singing made up songs to her, coming home from a long day's work to his girls, and how absolutely adorable Quinn is (he says so at least 6 times a day :))

A Beautiful Day
60's, sunny, nothing planned...such a beautiful day.
We didn't get out for a walk today, but we did take a little stroll for some fresh air as we grabbed the mail today. :) Otherwise, we spent our day with lots of the usual...eating, sleeping, and some great playtime. I'm trying to start establishing some "routines". There isn't much routine with a newborn, she eats when she needs to eat, and sleeps when she needs to sleep. However, I'm trying to start putting her in her crib for two of her naps a day. (She still sleeps quite often, so just one of her morning naps and one of her afternoon naps.) I still keep my one afternoon nap where she sleeps cuddled on my chest, can't give that one up. :) She is a bit of a light sleeper, and sleeping in my arms or on my chest is where she sleeps the deepest. So it's good for us to get her more adjusted to her crib now that she is past her due date and not needing that "in the womb" tight feeling as much anymore. At night she does pretty well, and we are lucky. We just have those occasional odd and off nights where she is up more frequently.
Anyway, here are some of our favorites pictures of our beautiful girl on this beautiful day.

What about Lucy?
Don't worry, our little Lucy has not been deprived of attention these days. Although, she definitely is having to adjust to some major changes around here. And, unfortunately, not being the baby anymore and showered with all of our attention is one of them. Lucy was not quite sure of this new little addition at first, but she has become accustomed to Quinn pretty quickly. Our first night home was pretty funny as she meowed and alerted us everytime Quinn made a peep and even climbed up by me when I was feeding her and tapped her little head twice in her "curiousity". Since then some mama cat qualities have come out for Lucy. She still alerts us when Quinn cries and she always seems to be closeby. :)

Due Date ~ March 14th
Should Quinn have been able to sustain a full term pregnancy, we would have been preparing now for her delivery. It's a little strange since she will already be a month old this coming weekend. We are so thankful that our little girl is so healthy and strong despite her early arrival. And I'm a little glad not to be anticipating her arrival any longer. :) She is here and she is perfect!
Quinn clearly was aware of this important date today and decided it was a great day to show off that even though she is little, she is big and strong. :) She had three firsts today.
1. Her first real smile! It was very real and in response to mommy playing, tickling, and blowing kisses on her hand this morning. Then more tears from mom, because it was the most precious thing in the world.
2. Supporting her back, neck and head while mom held her hands and pulled her up for 5 seconds. She is so strong! Her back, neck and head were all straight and not leaning back at all.
3. First Tummy Time!
It was a great day! Along with this, we started the day with some time watching the news in mommy and daddy's bed, we enjoyed a great afternoon nap together on the couch, a little time in the swing with the sun shining in, a lot of eating (that seems to take up most of our day) and some time playing too.
...and stretch.
Todd will be home soon. So I think the night will be topped off with a little time with daddy and a bath. :) Good night! Also, Hallelujah for Daylight Savings!!!

3 weeks already...
Quinn is already three weeks old (cue birthday horns, confetti, and some tears from mommy). I can't believe it's already been three weeks. However, we have been very fortunate to make the most of this time and soak up every second of it. Todd is cuddling with her and just staring at her as I write this. We have definitely put other things on hold, cleaning the house, etc. because all of these moments are just so much more important.
Quinn will have big update posts on the monthly marks, so look for her first one soon. Including her favorites, mommy's and daddy's favorite moments, most valuable baby items, and any milestones.

Quinn is still a "preemie" fashionista. However, we were able to dig through her drawers and find one "newborn" size jammy to spice up her wardrobe a little bit. It's still a little big on her. She will definitely get good use out her preemie clothes for a little while longer.
This one is just mommy's effort in practicing how to photograph with a focus and blurred background. Quinn is such a patient model.

5 lbs 14.6 oz!! Woohoo!!
Our peanut is turning into a little porker! Well...she still is pretty tiny. :) But Quinn is almost 6 pounds now. We had a doctor's appointment this afternoon and she got a stellar report. She gained 10 ounces in one week! A much needed improvement from the 2 ounces she gained last week. She also finally made it onto the weight percentage chart! Yippee! Her height has been at 50% and her weight now puts her at 5%. This chart compares her to babies that are born at full-term (40 weeks). So she not only passed her birth weight, but she has gained one pound since we brought her home. Her doctor's report has made it's way to the fridge. Yea Quinny!!!

As time goes by quickly, we know Quinn is going to be growing and changing just as fast. Pictures often don't show how little she is, so I've been trying to find ways for us to remember just how petite and precious she is. Here are a few pictures of me trying to capture this memory. :)
